FlexPath Bachelor of Science in Business

Enhance personal and organizational effectiveness in your chosen business field in a competency-based format

This program delivers business fundamentals alongside practical applications in an interactive learning environment. The curriculum takes an integrated approach to complex organizational systems. It is designed to help you to create organizational value, communicate effectively, plan strategically, understand business management techniques and use appropriate financial models and principles.

The FlexPath option offers the potential to significantly reduce the cost of earning your degree, accelerate the time required for degree completion, and better align your learning to the needs of employers and society. Traditionally, degree programs are constructed around credit hours that measure the time required to complete specific courses. Under, FlexPath, degree programs are constructed around the direct assessment of demonstrated competencies. While resources will be recommended, you can use any materials and resources you choose, including textbooks, eBooks, simulations, videos, articles, and work experiences. This new competency-based format allows you to complete course work at your own pace throughout each quarter. Once you believe you have mastered the course concepts, you will complete activities to demonstrate specific competencies by the end of the quarter.

Expense, completion, & career information (Gainful Employment)

Capella believes in being clear about the real cost, time, and value of a Capella degree The Gainful Employment disclosures, required by the US Department of Education (ED) (under 34 CFR 688.6 ), provide some information about completion, expenses and occupations based on learners who graduated between July 2013 and June 2014. Most of our students are part-time so they might not take a full course load or attend all 4 quarters each year. We took that into account in calculating these data. For example, we define program length for certificates and master's and doctoral degrees as the number of calendar quarters it takes a typical student to complete a program. The ED has defined time to complete for a Bachelor's degree as 4 years. Program cost is based on the specific pricing structure for each program which is either a cost per credit or a cost per active quarter.
